With the small pulleys? If you're doing something like that your best bet is to make a little widget with a setscrew that can clamp down on the cable/rope variably hard by twisting a setscrew. Then just tie this behind your cablecam with something like surgical latex (springy things will help dampen HF vibrations). Either that or you can just buy a fishing rod and use that to control speed externally (I was going to try this but never got around to it so I'm not sure how well this works).

yo for your cablecam make a variable friction device to put on either your wheels or the cable itself. Do you have a pic of your setup so I can see whaddup with it? Cuz how you do it depends on the exact design...
